Same Hawksweek with a new look

You may notice that Hawksweek has a slightly different look this week. Our communications and web provider has an updated newsletter function that can assist us with the following:

  • Hawksweek is now fully integrated into our communications platform, which means it goes out to all of our outlets simultaneously;

  • We no longer have to rely on large file sizes or PDFs that can clog your inbox;

  • Links are now active and clickable;

  • Video can now be included in Hawksweek;

  • Staff members can now contribute directly; and

  • We can now track various web metrics such as how many people open Hawksweek and click rates on the various links or media.

All of these developments are in service to more seamless and consistent communication, as well as targeting the best times and methods to share information with the school community.

We had an amazing breakfast fundraiser this morning for our Quebec trip! Thank you to many of our students who showed up early to set-up, cook, and bus tables. Many thanks also to staff for providing treats and other goodies, and especially to Madame Jones for organizing. We also had some parent volunteers to round out the squad of helping hands, so thanks go out to you as well.

On another note, please look for updates related to the upcoming storm. It is very possible that we might lose power, in which case it makes it very difficult for us to actually have school. We have a generator that only powers the front wing of the building. In that case, the vast majority of classrooms are without lights, internet service, and most importantly, bathroom toilets will not flush.

Each day that we cancel means we'll have to look for ways to make them up, hopefully without extending the school year. We will monitor weather conditions to determine if we can safely hold part of the day before canceling entirely. Early release is another option, but student and staff safety are paramount. Please charge devices overnight and look for text alerts.

Otherwise, we have a full week of basketball and make note of the shoot-a-thon benefit for Paige on Wednesday evening!
