Reminder right out of the gate: NO AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AT WATERMAN'S THIS WEEK. I'm sure everyone needs a break after all the work that went into Center Stage. Bravo, everyone!
Our annual book fair will be up all week, feel free to stop by the library for a visit.
Rehearsals for the spring production of "Mean Girls" are kicking into full gear this week. Some great quotes already coming from the script, so please do not miss your chance to see this show in May.
And from what I've heard, students had a great time at the BE BOLD conference last week. It's such an important event and we're happy to continue our participation.
It looks like there's going to be a lot of rain this coming week. Oh, and mud. Keep those boots ready!

Buzz Scott is the president of OceansWide, a non-profit that provides hands-on maritime experience for students with guidance from educators, research scientists, archeologists, and historians. They are currently undertaking a project to clean up marine debris around the Gulf of Maine with their “Traps to Treasure” project. To date, they have already removed over 700 tons (!!) of gear from the bottom of the Gulf of Maine and surrounding shorelines. Buzz Scott and his team offer opportunities for high school students to become dive-certified as well as paid internships and job opportunities.
Dr. Andrew Goode is a professor and researcher with UMaine's Darling Marine Center. Dr. Goode is a member of the Maine Climate Council’s Scientific and Technical Subcommittee and runs the Maine Collector Survey, which is a part of the American Lobster Settlement Index (ALSI). Dr. Goode's research goal is to better understand factors controlling lobster populations, and to use this information to better anticipate and plan against climate change impacts to the resource and fishery. Dr. Goode is mentoring Cyrus Brown with his project to study offshore bottom temperatures using deepwater thermal sensors on lobster traps this year.
Both Buzz and Andrew grew up around the Gulf of Maine (Buzz on Matinicus and Andrew in Boothbay) and care deeply about the health and well being of the ocean and all those who depend on it!
This event is open to the community and we encourage you to attend!
