Hawksweek (25-26) #23

We hope everyone had a great winter break, but it doesn't look like we'll get much of a break from actual winter. We are in for more snow and more wind starting tomorrow. We've already been in touch with our road crew, who anticipate high winds and large snow drifts.

It's likely normal operations will be disrupted tomorrow, but not sure to what extent, and we may experience further delays later in the week. We will keep everyone posted through all of our comms channels as soon as decisions are made.

On another note, we are going to proceed with a field trip THIS FRIDAY to the Camden Snow Bowl. This trip is for all students in grades 5-12 and is sponsored by the Wellness Committee.

As you can imagine, a lot of logistics go into planning off-island trips. There has been growing interest in a school-wide ski trip. But the challenge is finding the right time, with the right conditions, and securing that coveted ferry reservation for the bus. We also want to make sure the Snow Bowl has time in their schedule for a group lesson, and from our conversations with them over the last couple of weeks, they are very busy!

Ultimately, everything came together for this Friday the 27th. We will depart on the first boat and return on the last boat. Our group lesson with the ski school starts at noon. When we first arrive, we'll get some donuts and head to the Rockland library for a Knowledge Fair/Free Reading work session. Then, the plan is to arrive at the Snow Bowl by 1100A.

We'll send out some additional details as the week progresses. In the meantime, all you need to worry about is registering your student(s) online with the Snow Bowl. The school will be invoiced as a group, so you will not be charged. Please fill this out as soon as possible so they have the information they need and we can do a head count. Students not attending the trip will be expected at school that day to engage in other activities.

Here is the link for the online registration. Further instructions are included in the images below. Email me if you have any questions.
