Love is in the air...

We can't really tell if love is truly in the air, or if we're just giddy for the break next week. Nevertheless, the great wind-down from basketball continues. New activities and experiences will now take the spotlight. Although, I have to say how wonderful it was to see everyone at our second Exhibition last week. We're still establishing a routine to these events, but I hope everyone is starting to observe the promise and potential of showcasing all of the things we've accomplished in the previous quarter.

One helpful tactic we are deploying is using a thematic approach to the Exhibitions, organizing each of them around one of the four C's. The next Exhibition will emphasize Competence. These events are also a great time to hold the various and traditional fundraisers, as well as an opportunity to converse with teachers about your students. All in all, we had nearly 100% student participation for this event, photos of which you an see below.

A note from Kate Quinn:

A very exciting finish to the basketball season. Congratulations to both the girls and boys teams as well as the bus line players. The final varsity game with our neighbors to the south, “Vinalhaven Vikings” were both victories for the “North Haven Hawks”. The level  of teamwork was the best I have seen all season.

The boys game was a prime example of what teamwork means and what can be accomplished when five individuals decide to work together in harmony. The level of sportsmanship on both sides was commendable. But the final shot of the game was by far the lesson of what being a good sport can do. Our injured player senior Bryn Campbell was subbed in with approximately 1-2 minutes of time left on the clock so he could get a final shot at the hoop. He, in reality, got several that missed the mark but with seconds left on the clock a Vinalhaven player got the ball and “accidentally” lost it to Bryn, who then made a three point shot on the buzzer. He finished his final varsity game with the crowd on all sides making the gym echo to the rafters.

So, good work Hawks and kudos to the Vinalhaven team.

Congratulations to Caden for earning Student of the Month at MCST!
